KITT TURBINE SOUND MODULE
The engine sound is created by using a unique sound architecture. Its been used only high-
quality aircraft engine sounds to accurately create the awesome sound that you are about to experience. Enjoy!
SOUND BOARD INSTALLATION
Plug in the start switch cable into the sound board at the 2-pin start/shutdown connector.
Connect the audio plug to your preamp or amplifier input.
Connect the power wires to an accessory (switched) 12 volt source. The circuit should have a 1/2 amp inline fuse
for protection. Red is (+) and black is (-) ground.
Plug the 5-pin audio-power connector into the sound board.
Mount the sound board in a suitable location under the dashboard. Do not mount in the engine compartment.
TPS – THROTTLE SENSOR SETUPS
Route the TPS wire to the TPS sensor. Connect the wire to the sensor signal wire. Plug in the 3-pin connector to the
sound board. Turn on your vehicle audio amplifier and set it to a low volume. Turn the vehicle on to enable your TPS
sensor. Set your engine sound select switches to the desired engine sound. They both should be moved together. Set
the volume pot on the sound board to approximately the 12 o’clock position. Set the Idle and High Throttle calibrate
switches to the normal position (down). Leave the idle pot and the HI throttle pot at the custom factory setting for
now. Switch on the power to the sound board. Allow 10 seconds for system initialization.
CHECKING AND TUNING THE IDLE SOUND
Note: The idle and high throttle calibration switches represent the correct engine sounds at idle and
high throttle when either one is in the test position. You are calibrating the sound module to match your
accelerator position (TPS voltage) by adjusting the pots to match these calibrated sounds when in the test position.
Turn the start toggle switch to START, you should then hear the engine start sequence.
After 13 seconds, the sound will switch over to the idle sound. If you can’t detect a change, and the turbine is still idling,
then you don’t have to adjust the idle with idle adjust pot on the sound board. Go to: CHECKING THE HIGH THROTTLE
SOUND. If you hear a change after startup, go to: IDLE SOUND ADJUSTMENT
IDLE SOUND ADJUSTMENT
If your idle appears to speed up after startup, adjust it a little slower by turning the idle adjust pot on the board just
counter-clockwise in small increments , then move the idle calibration switch to the test position to compare. You will
have the sound adjusted correctly when you hear no change when switching the idle calibrate switch to the test position,
then back to the normal position. If the idle appears to slow down after the 13 second startup, then turn the idle adjust
pot clockwise to speed it up a little, and compare the sound with the idle calibrate switch in test position. Switch it back to
normal position when adjustment is complete.
CHECKING THE HIGH THROTTLE SOUND
Switch the start switch to start and after the 13 second sequence reaches the idle sound, push the accelerator to the
position you would like to hear the max throttle. Switch the high throttle calibrate switch to test, then compare the
calibrated hi throttle sound to where you had the accelerator. If you don’t hear a change, the high throttle is adjusted.
If not, go to: HIGH THROTTLE ADJUSTMENT
HIGH THROTTLE ADJUSTMENT
If the high throttle sound is sounding (too low) in RPM, you can turn the high throttle pot clockwise to Increase the
sensitivity, or range of the engine. Then, move the high throttle calibration switch to test, to compare. If the high throttle
sound is sounding a bit stretched (too high), you can turn the hi throttle pot a little counter – clockwise to decrease the
sensitivity, making it lower. Again, switch the high throttle calibration switch to test to compare. You only need to move
the pot 1/16 inch or so at a time. Keep in mind that you may have to adjust the idle again since the high throttle pot
does move the idle a little bit also, but you can fine tune the idle with the idle pot again quickly. Make sure both
calibration switches are back in the run position when finished
Note: The pot adjustments should only be made with the switch in the normal position. Test position is for sound
comparison only.
FINAL ADJUSTMENT TIPS
You may want to drive the vehicle a bit to see how it sounds at max throttle sound. Some of my customers like to have
the max throttle at half acceleration on the pedal. To achieve that, you would turn the high throttle pot clockwise to give
the sound a wider range for less travel on the pedal (more sensitive). Keep in mind that you have to also fine tune the
idle pot again, as it will change it slightly also.
